Then don't you feel like when you (or your baby) are sick, everything falls apart, and it's like one big giant pity party? Am I the only one? I start thinking how all plans have to be changed and EVERYTHING IS RUINED. (Dramatic?) I was supposed to host a girls night at my house tonight but I'm sure no one would want to come to my (germ infested, throw-up) house, so we had to switch locations. And why in the moment does that seem like the end of the world?
Anyway, Asher was pretty miserable for a few hours, but luckily it only lasted a day (and only bad about 8 hours) and he was really sweet and cuddly for those few hours.
____________
Asher has now been going to nursery for almost four months. Don't ask me where the time's gone. I just want to remember how he's done with going and I'm sure if I don't write it down I will forget. Well he loves talking about nursery. All week long he talks about "ne-ne" and what he does there - "play," "Jude, daddy, Manny" (his friends whose names he can say, Jude, Kylee and Mady), "mmm" (eat/snacks) and "popcorn" (popcorn popping. he is obsessed).
So. He talks about it all week. But when we walk into that little room, he freezes. He clings to my legs and all he can say is "no" over and over. The poor kid gets so nervous and suddenly doesn't care about friends, toys, snacks or popcorn popping. After a few minutes I leave, he cries, and I stand outside the door hoping he calms down. He always does, about 30 seconds or less after I leave. Of course when we pick him up he is excited to tell us all about it again. Last Sunday I walked in, plopped him down on the blanket (and he wasn't clinging to my legs) and I quickly snuck out. Hooray to week one of no crying!
____________
We got a frog. Not only have I managed to keep Ish alive for five whole months, we are now up to two pets. I think Asher is pretty set on naming this poor frog Apple. When we got it, we asked him, "Asher, what do you want to name your frog?" "Apple" Seriously. This kid is obsessed with apples. We thought maybe he didn't understand what we were asking, and there's no way he really wants to name his frog Apple, so we let it slide and forgot about it.
Last night we said to Asher - "Asher, we need to name your frog. What do you want to name it?" We started listing off names (boy names, because I assumed it was a boy frog). As Asher said no to each name we suggested he got a cute little smirk on his face, and said, "Apple". So after confirming it with him again this morning, his frog is indeed named Apple. And I guess that makes his frog a girl.

I love this apple story! And everything turned out great tonight. It was such a fun craft and I'm now wanting to make more! Love you!
Ha ha I love the name Apple for your frog, and that he was so insistent on it! And I too assumed the frog was a boy, but I guess Asher knew the truth. Poor little sick thing--did not look fun. And I can't believe he's big enough to go to nursury, much less talk about it!
I seriously am cracking up over here about Apple. How stinking cute is Asher, to name his frog Apple?! I LOVE IT! That is so sad about sick little Asher...sounds so very miserable for the both of you. Glad it didn't last too long. I love when you write little tidbits about Asher's personality-that is so sweet how he talks about it all week. So cute.
And by "it" I, of course, mean nursury. Crazy me. :)
Love, love, love the apple story!!! Cutest ever how he is so obsessed about apples that he insists on naming his frog Apple. These are such fun little tidbits. Sometimes these are my favorite posts, because years later these are the little things you will want to remember about this little man and his little personality.
I cannot believe it but I haven't checked any blogs in over a month! And not on purpose... Anyway, such a cute story. Asher is a lucky boy to have an "ish" & a frogie. Madsen would go nuts if was as lucky. As you know, he probably spend all day trying to dump food in their tank. :)
Love the name, Apple. I hope nursery continues to get better. Jameson cried every time we left him there (though he quickly got over it), but for the last several weeks, he's done great. I think part of that reason is because they have new nursery leaders, and when the kids are walking in, there's music playing and a bubble machine going! It's such an inviting, fun atmosphere, I kind of want to stick around!
